LATEST WORLD CUP NEWS... (posted 29th October 2003)
Last night saw Georgia and Uruguay belting it out to see who would take home the wooden spoon for Pool C. Georgia were
tipped to have a win, but they were worn down and outplayed three tries to none by Uruguay - the final score being Uruguay 24 - Georgia 12.
The post match jubilation from the Uruguay camp was a site to behold. Read more here
Tonight in Wollongong Canada will play Tonga - which shouldn't be a bad game to watch so make sure you tune in for it.
What else is happening? The kerfuffle continues over England extra player in their match against Samoa last Saturday.
It would seem now that England defied a match official to keep Luger on the sideline until there was a break in play. hmmmmmm...
A whole pile of people involved in the incident have had to submit reports, and we're due to find out at any tick of the clock what is going to happen
as a result of the incident. I know that Luger was only on the field for less than a minute, but that's not the point. The incident shouldn't have occurred at all - how
ridiculous at this level of the game. England should have to forfeit their points, and they should be given to Samoa. I can almost hear the screaming from here :) Too bad so sad I reckon!
The Wallabies are expected to field their strongest players this weekend in their game against Ireland. While both teams have already qualified for the Quarter finals, the outcome of the game
will determine who plays who in the quarters. If Australia win this weekend then they'll play either Scotland or Fiji in their quarters, if they lose then they'll have to play France. Yikes! heh.
The Irish though are apparently resting a lot of their big players - saving them for the quarter final. Don't know that I think that is a wise move from their coach O'Sullivan - but I suppose we'll see
how things pan out on Saturday.
Happy Birthday wishes today for Matt Sherman - from the USA!
Righto - that's it for now!
Cheers!
