LATEST WORLD CUP NEWS... (posted 22nd October 2003)
Last night the Italians just managed to hold on to win against Canada's Canucks down in Canberra - say that three times and see how clever you are! Canada's Canucks in Canberra...Canada's Canoes in Caccc.. I give up :) Anway, the game was a really tight tussle and had Canada put the heavy pressure on Italy a bit earlier than they did in the game then they could quite well have caused an upset. You can read my full match roundup over here.

Tonight we will see Argentina take on Romania in Sydney. To date, the Argentinians have won every encounter between the two nations though this is the first time they will have played against each other in the RWC. Good luck to the Romanians, I expect that Argentina will come out as the winners tonight.

Happy Birthday to Patricio Noriega - yes I know he's not in our Wallaby squad for the RWC - would be comforting to know he was though! And also many happy return going out to Georgia's Zurab Mchedlishvili today :)

What else is happening? Tana Umaga continues to work on that ruptured posterior cruciate ligament of his that we all thought was going to mean an early departure for the All Bad's back row pillar - but he's made of tough stuff is Umaga, apparently he's jogging on it already, and the Kiwis are crossing their fingers and no doubt their legs and toes as well in the hope that he'll be fit enough to play in the quarter finals.

Scottish Flanker, Martin Leslie is going to have to face the tribunal in Sydney this afternoon for an alleged kneeing inciding on a USA player during the Scottish 39-15 win over the Eagles. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens with that one.

The Wallabies had some fun yesterday during a break in training when they raced each other in surf rafts near their training base in Coffs Harbours. Good to see that Wendell and Chris Latham (PLEASE let him play Eddie) and David Croft - all Queenslanders won their race :)) Now, if they can just carry that over to the paddock we'll be right :))

That's it for now! Cheers!
