LATEST WORLD CUP NEWS... (posted 21st October 2003)
Scotland were victories over the USA at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane last night in what I can only describe as an ordinary rugby match. The Scots managed to score a bonus point in their 39-15 win, but the game was a very stop start affair with South African ref Jonathan Kaplan blowing his whistle more times than a train conductor. The Scots win was less than convincing, and the USA relied primarily on the kicking boot of their Aussie import Mike Hercus. It would be great if someone would let the Eagles know that scoring tries in a rugby game is preferable to penalty goal kicking. If you missed this game on the telly don't fret - you didn't miss much. I'm glad I didn't make the trek to Suncorp to watch the game. Full report here

Tonight Italy take on Canada in Canberra. Happy Birthday to Italy's Martin Castrogiovanni - hope you have a good game to celebrate! Although the Canucks have a couple of ex-Aussies in their team and their coach is ex-Wallaby David Clark I am tipping that Italy will take line honours tonight. While the Italians are yet to reach a RWC quarter final, their form has improved steadily over the last few years - a force of the future.
