LATEST WORLD CUP NEWS... (posted 18th October 2003)
Good morning! Last night's New Zealand - Canada game in Melbourne produced few surprises other than the
first 15 minutes of play where Canada really stuck with the All Bads and looked like they could be/would be(?) formidable opponents.
The Kiwis eventually found their rhythm though and outstanding play by Brad Thorn and Carlos Spencer led to the Kiwis scoring a motza
of tries which Daniel Carter mostly converted. You can read my match round up here.
NZ got maximum points for the win and now sit with 10 points at the top of Pool D.
I'm off to watch my Wallaby boys take on Romania at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane at 4pm today.
I'm taking my entourage (aka family) along and we'll be decked out in our Green and Gold. I fear having to dodge the flag my son is taking along - it's all fun
till somebody loses an eye :)) Australia has won over Romania in the previous two test matches they have faced each other - so I'm hoping that today will be another
victory. Wonder if the Brisbane crowd can raise the roof (wait there isn't one) with 'Waltzing Matilda' today ;)
In Townsville tonight the French take on Japan. The French are yet to lose a pool game in any rugby world cup - that's not a bad record to hold is it? And, I should
think that they'll be victorious over the Japanese tonight.
The 'biggie' game that all eyes are on tonight will be between England and South Africa over at Subiaco in Perth. Both teams are known for their - how shall we say 'aggressive' play? -
and after all the big talk that's come from both of these powerhouse teams it will be very interesting to see this game. Here's hoping they belt each other around heaps ;))
Aaaah evil thoughts are good for the soul :)
Alrighty - I'm off to try and hunt down some Aussie flag temporary tattoos - if I can't find any my eight year old daughter is going to paint a green wallaby on my face.
Uh oh! Here's hoping I can find some flags tats somewhere :))
Later!
I've just put up a forum message board so you can all have your say on RWC. Click Here
to access the forums. Make sure you register and vote in my Matt Burke poll - or just say G'day even :))
